Katie

Hi, my name is Katie and I started at Curly’s Farm in May 2024.

I have always been a lover of all animals and worked for 10 years in a small farm shop, looking after customers and the shop as well as the small petting farm area that we had; looking after everything from a couple of Shetland ponies, goats, pigs and a variety of poultry, down to the ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds and other small furries!

As well as this, I am a qualified primary school teacher and have been for nearly 20 years now.  I love working with young people and helping them to be the best that they can be and growing with skills and confidence.  Currently I am not working in a school but I still tutor from home.  Joining the Curly’s Farm team has been absolutely great as I now can easily combine both of my passions in life – children and animals and I get to learn new things at the same time as well.

I have two little girls at home who both attend Curly’s farm club at the weekend and they are both inheriting my love for animals and helping others.  I haven’t been able to decide on a favourite animal yet as I love them all – they all have their own personalities and I am just as happy cuddling a ferret as I am in the mud giving a pig belly scratches!

When I’m not at the farm, I am busy at home with my own menagerie of small furries – I’m holding Pepper (one of my guinea pigs) in my photo, gardening or trying to find ways to help my tutoring children to achieve their next steps.  I can’t wait to see you at the farm soon, so make sure that you pop by and say hello.
