Hi, I’m Eve and I am a volunteer and trustee here at Curly’s farm.

I have been volunteering once a week since May 2024, where I help look after all the beautiful animals by cleaning and mucking out, harness training and of course, giving all the cuddles and chin scratches to name just a few duties.

I have been so lucky to learn so much from my wonderful colleagues here at the farm, as they have taken me under their wing and helped me to flourish, as this is a very far cry from my background of being in offices!  My previous career of 35 years, was in banking, so being in the great outdoors, in all weathers is exhilarating.  It’s amazing that some of my skills were transferable to the farm, but I learn something new every day I’m here. 

I would highly recommend becoming a volunteer to anyone who is wanting a change, a challenge and to do something really rewarding.

I have been so inspired by the whole charity and the support that they offer, the values they have and instil into all those that work here, that when I was asked to become a trustee, I eagerly agreed.  I was invited as the team thought that my values aligned to theirs and that I would be able to support and challenge the decisions that need to be made as the charity moves forward.  I hope that my leadership, coaching and management skills will all help me to become a valued trustee as well as team member and I can’t wait to see just how far the charity can go to support young people and adults even further.
